Hello Brian ,the usual explanation for the faces are that they are from a chapel that stood in the grounds of Tealing House .

Hi Brian,
I noticed one in Wooler. There all near gutters it seems. Hangovers? Mondaymorning jokes?
I believe its a well-known tradition in Ireland and they are there to protect the house from ghosts or so.
(Very rough Monday-evening guess!)
Cheers,
Jan

There is a wee cul de sac in the Hilltown area of Dundee that has loads of faces over the tenement walls and is known locally as "Facey Land".Nothing else nearby .
