Barningham Moor rediscovery

New find on Barningham Moor, discovered whilst following one of my ridiculous ‘trackway’ theories. It consists of approx 45 cups + 25 CnRs, a series of enclosing grooves & interlinking grooves that connect all but 5 of the ringless cup.... a quite busy yet manic design!!

Congrats Rich, an absolute top catch! That trackway theory seems to be very fruitfull instaed of being ridiculous. I would say: follow that track as long as you can!
Have you named the panel yet? Or is it just another Barningham number?
Anyway, enjoy this great find and many thanks for sharing.
Cheers,
Jan

Egads, blimey, cor, and lumme. Then some.

You're right Rich, what a daft theory. I mean, trackways! You're never going to find any rock art using such a strange idea. You've more chance of finding a complex panel on Barnigham moor than you have of vindicating that crazy trackwa...

Oh.

Hang on a minute...

A great find Rich.
Anything notable about the site/ location?
(A part from your 'Proto-trackway' hypophosis - will you be giving a lecture at RAM 07?)

Hi folks,

Jan, its nameless at the moment, so will just fit in with the rest of Barningham.

Brian, so do I mate, don’t want to go through that again, but at least I can hide behind N&DRAP this time :-)

MrC, its located in an area with a number of enclosures & other carvings. Its actually set inside a small curvilinear enclosure, 20-30meters away from a carving consisting of a grooved keyhole multiple penanular sorta fing, whether the enc. is contemporary with the carvings is another question. Theres a watercourse close by also, which I understand to be recent (?) Stan & Tim’s write up for the vicinity says, “this area contains some of the rare multiple concentric ring circle designs, and they’re within a fairly narrow linear band”.

That looks like an absolute stunner, Rich. Many congratulations. Looks like Barningham Moor is not completed yet. Well done. Must have a look at that theory now.
